The tool will find and replace any words found in Bluebook v.21 tables 6, 10.1, 12, and 13 and a few other key words with their abbreviations*

Also, there are a few quirky rules that this tool just can’t handle:

If the abbreviator puts a period in the middle of a word, that means the full word is not in the table, but that a shorter version of the word is. You should reject that abbreviation. (eg. contractor will become cont.or because contractor is not abbreviated but contract is)

For special rules for titles of periodicals, please see table T13F

United States is not abbreviated when it is the full name of a party (B10.1.1), so you’ll want to reject that change if that’s the full name of your party.

Also, this tool cannot eliminate superscripts, you will have to manually eliminate those from your cites.
